Create a sense for observing

There is this one moment, I meditate a little, listen to the music and when I open my eyes I see the red Asian sun rising on the horizon. I am on the morning ferry, to a place I do not know and therefore want to discover. Nobody here speaks my language and I am completely alone, everything I do is up to me. The people look different, they speak different, the environment looks different, nothing is similar to home. On this planet exists so much one can discover, every country, every new place has so much to offer for you. While solo travelling you create a better sense for observing your environment as your mind is focused on these things, especially when being alone and not being distracted by anybody talking to you. You start to compare, minor things, major things, how do people live compared to home. Why do they live like this and how can it be that life is so different a couple thousand kilometres away. Everywhere in the world life was, is and will happen at the same time and so people develop in their own way, create different cultures, languages and environments. Travelling is the only possibility to really discover this, compare it to your own standards and development. Becoming aware of what you have and not have. It made me grateful. Grateful for the fact that I am even capable of experiencing these travels. When I start comparing other people's lives to mine it makes me grateful for all the standards and possibilities I was gifted as there are so many people out there having not anywhere near these chances. That is why it is certain I will use my chances and this potential. Nobody should ever waste potential, it is fine if it does not work out, but you have got to try. There is something in everybody, you just have to discover it.
As time never stops, and everywhere on this huge planet life happens at once, I started appreciating that I can be part of this. This big movement starting every day in the country you live in, this big movement of people doing something which is constantly going all over the world. People get presents from their loved ones for Christmas or even their birthday, but there is one present which is bigger than any other and that is being alive.
Your biggest present is the present. The past is to learn and the future to think but the present is to live and that is the time where you can actually do and change something. What is happening in your big present is all up to you.
